Dissonant, organic, ritualistic. Somehow able to conjure a sense of vastness without overwhelming walls of sound.
Favorite track: III: Stasis (Obliterated Shrine).

First album was cool, but this is something special. Like first encounter with Knut special. I hope McMaster stays a collaborator, his sound is like poison gas shells.
Favorite track: I: Ekstasis (Baptismal Tomb).
Darknight
Did not expect this sort of killing heaviness from Nightmarer. The three just explode and they absolutely slay!!
Favorite track: II: Metastasis (Primordial Grit).
Unhallowed Remains
Its releases like this that have made 2021 the year of American Black Metal and discordant Death Metal. The involvement of Keith Merrow is a welcome surprise and shows how he keeps diverging his style to become more and more influential. This three track nightmare given form is chaotic yet controlled, bubbling under the surface and threatening to emerge in its full evil splendour. For fans of Ulcerate and Akhlys. Wonderful!
Favorite track: II: Metastasis (Primordial Grit).

This band fails to disappoint and with the addition of Merrow into the mix, Nightmarer have once again topped themselves. Monolith of Corrosion will take you on a nightmarish, off-kilter journey through a soul crushing void that even Humanity’s Last Breath can take notes from. After my 3rd listen I would give it 9 dissonant chugs out of 10.

'Monolith of Corrosion' features three seamlessly transitioning pieces, forged into one mammoth composition spanning 13 min of Total Dissonance Worship.
'Ekstasis' represents the fastest and most chaotic end of Nightmarer's spectrum, but don't let that deceive you... the EP sonically descends all the way into an oppressive crawl of industrialized misery from there.
These recordings feature Nicholas McMaster (Krallice, Geryon, Edenic Past) on bass and his highly recognizable playing style truly completed 'Monolith of Corrosion', which was almost entirely recorded, mixed and mastered by the band.
The result has a raw and eruptive power you haven't heard from Nightmarer before...

"Compelling metal is something that appears to be a rare commodity. Nightmarer are here to reassure us that, as far as they are concerned, this is not a problem. Monolith of Corrosion stands tall and mighty as a bleak and harrowing monument to what the darker depths of metal can achieve."

Ice cold Industrial Black Metal that is bursting with discordant tension. As if the war of the machines came crashing down on us in a blistering Winter. Nightmarer

Heaviest thing I’ve heard all year along with Altarage. Okay I’ve been listening to this record for the past two weeks and it just gets better and better. Dissonant grooves galore Jacob Ballance
